E-Sponsibility and Cyber Bullying Overview

In today's world that is moving ever more increasingly towards digital communication, incidences of bullying are now following students home, most of the time without the knowledge of their parents. Cyber bullying is shown to be just as damaging, if not more so, than physical and verbal bullying at school.
According to Bill Belsey, "cyber bullying involves the use of information and communication technologies to support deliberate, repeated, and hostile behavior by an individual or group, that is intended to harm others." Cyber bullying can be in the form of text messaging, instant messaging, public chat forums, blogs, social networking cites, email, video, and the list of possibilities keeps expanding as our technologies advance. E-sponsibility is the expectation that a person will use communication technologies in ways that are responsible, appropriate, and don't inflict pain upon others. The following video provides an example of cyber bullying.
